Psalm 135
Matthew 9:14-17
“Rather, they pour new wine into fresh wineskins, and both are preserved.” Matthew 9:17
Lord, you always want to pour the new wine of your grace into the fresh wineskins of our hearts. An open, flexible heart can grow and mature and be ready for the new life you came to give us. Lord, you know how I can get stuck in old, familiar, and comfortable habits and patterns of living. My old ways may have been good enough at one time, but you always are leading me to greater love and closer unity with you. You give me your word each day to lead and inspire me to be your witness in my family, parish, and world. What old ways is it time for me to leave behind? What new perspective and wisdom do you want for me today? I pray every day: “…thy Kingdom come; thy will be done.“ Help me to put meaning in those words. My choice is I can be satisfied with the old or be open and ready for the new adventures you have in store for me. Lord, I am yours. Do with me what you will. Amen.
