Matthew 7:1-5
“Go forth from your kinsfolk and your father’s house to a land I will show you.” Genesis 12:1
Lord, Abram must have had a ton of questions about your commandment to move. When he was directed to leave the comfort of his home and take his family and all his possessions to a new place did he wonder “why me?” Did he ask, “you want me to go where?” Maybe he wanted to know why and how he could do all this in his old age. But we read how his faith in God led him to trust and obey. Lord, I often experience a call from you to change my ways or to move on to a new place in my walk with you. The outcome of change is often not at all clear. How I am to follow your will isn’t printed in an instruction manual. I gotta admit, Lord, I often don’t want to change. I’d rather stay where I am, in my own little comfort zone. But our reading today is clear that many, many blessings come my way when I listen, trust, and obey. You are with me when I make a wrong turn to get me back on course. When faced with impossible odds you show me the path around them. Lord, be with me on my journey today. Amen
