Romans 5:6-11
Therefore, if you hearken to my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my special possession… Ex. 19:5
“Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.” Mt. 10:8
Lord, you were moved with pity when you saw your people wandering about like sheep without a shepherd. They had lost their way to the Father. They failed to “hearken to your voice” and keep the covenant of love their Father established for them. You knew something had to be done to bring them back to where they receive the life you offered them. You took a bold move and appointed twelve uneducated, uncultured, and inexperienced fishermen and others to proclaim your kingdom to the people of Israel. You gave them extraordinary authority and power to heal, cast out demons, raise the dead and cleanse lepers. What an astounding step that was! Lord, you still rely on inexperienced, rookie disciples today. I am one of them. I don’t know how to cast out demons, but I can be your instrument of healing and I can spread the good news of your Kingdom. With your help I can work to bring lost sheep back into the fold. Amen
