Lord, good coaches emphasize the fundamentals of their sport to their players.   It is good every once in a while for them to ensure they are following the essential form and execution of their athletic skills.  When they do that they improve.  Advent is a good time for us to get back to the basics of how we are doing in our walk with you.  In our readings this weekend Isaiah, St. Paul and St. John the Baptist give us pointers in for our reflection.   The basic message is the need for all of us to repent of our sins and then produce good fruit as we continue to build up your kingdom each day.   You are the mighty one who will deliver me from the burden of my sins.  Lord, show me today one way I can be more open to your grace.  Remove from me the obstacle that keeps me from living like I’ve been saved.   Restore my hope in the salvation you won for me on the cross.  I look forward to welcoming you into my heart each day.  Amen.
