Psalm 16

John 17:20-26

You will show me the path to life… Ps. 16:11

I pray not only for these, but also for those who will believe in me through their word…John 17:20

Lord, how blessed are we who at your last Passover Meal you prayed to your Father for your disciples and for us, for me. You knew how many obstacles and sufferings your followers would encounter as they lived their faith and proclaimed the good news of your Gospel. St. John gives us insight into your prayer that night. He writes how you prayed for unity because it was essential that we are on the same page when it comes to witnessing to you. There are enough divisions and squabbles in our world that we hear about every day.  We can be tempted to lose hope with so many lies and corruption in our communities. But this is Easter time, and we are Easter people.  How can we not have hope when we have our own resurrection to look forward to. How can we not have hope when you have given us your Holy Spirit to show us the “path to life.” I pray today for Christian unity. I pray for my brothers and sisters who have lost their way and live in confusion and unbelief. Bring them home to your joyful family of hopeful believers.  Amen.
