December 12, 2022, OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

Zechariah 2:14-17

Psalm Judith 13:18bc, 19

Luke 1:26-38

See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the LORD.  Zec. 2:14

Mary said, “Behold I am the handmaid of the Lord.  May it be done to me according to your word.”  Luke 1:38

Lord, Mary had plans of her own. The angel’s offer would change those plans. All kinds of outcomes must have flooded into her mind. Not only would this change her life drastically, it on the surface, looked impossible. Whoever gets pregnant by the Holy Spirit? But her answer to Gabriel was quick and confident. She went back upon the basics of who she was–a servant of the Lord. She fell back upon her trust in that God would do what was proposed and that he’d see to it his grace was sufficient for her.  Lord, may I too say “Yes” to your will for me. Help me to overlook doubt and fear and accept whatever you call me to today. I may have questions and not be certain of how it’ll all work but give me the faith and trust to cooperate fully in whatever you desire for me. I don’t have to understand, I just need to be faithful. Help me to stay close to your Mother who followed your will so perfectly.  Our Lady of Guadalupe, “pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.”  Amen.
