Sirach 48:1-4, 9-11

Psalm 80

Matthew 17:9, 10-13

…revive us, and we will call on your name.  Psalm 80:19

Lord, it’s so easy to be consumed by the commercialism, the parties and the general busyness of the season. Nobody enjoys the long lines at the post office. Many merchants and others won’t even use the greeting “Merry Christmas.” And of course, there’s the constant debate about the crib scene at city hall.  Lord, I gotta believe you just shake your head at how so many have forgotten or never been taught what this Advent time of preparation is all about. My prayer today is for a revival of my spirit. I want to experience your presence every day. I turn to you in prayer this day, dear Jesus, to lift me up out of the noise and distractions of this time to be with you. To rest in you for a while each day. I believe you too desire a revival of my heart. I open my life to you, my Savior, and plead with you to prepare a place for me with you forever. May this Advent season make me ready for you to come. Let your face shine upon me and I shall be saved.  Amen.
