Romans 10:9-18

Psalm 19

Matthew 4:18-22

“Come after me and I will make you fishers of me.”  Matthew 4:19

Lord, you threw out the bait and caught your first disciples. The bait was a simple invitation and a promise of transformation. You make your call to each of us too and make the same promise of renewal. To be your disciples they chose to leave behind their families and livelihoods. They did not hesitate or delay but dropped it all and left everything behind. Lord, I have heard your call and I believe in your promises, but I don’t always respond like Peter and the guys. Sometimes I’m too busy with other things to pray or go to Mass. I can be too distracted by the TV or internet to read and ponder your word. I can be self-centered when I see someone in need whom I could help. I am sometimes fearful of what I would be asked to do or give up to follow you. No doubt the Holy Spirit was powerfully present on the fishing docks that day. Lord, help me with your grace and your Spirit to more fully give myself to you today. Then let the adventure begin!  St. Andrew pray for us. Amen.
