Philippians 3:3-8

Psalm 105

Luke 15:1-10

“This man welcomes sinners and eats with them.”  Luke 15:2

Lord, it sounds crazy for a shepherd to leave ninety-nine sheep unprotected to go look for only one. How foolish it seems to risk the loss of the entire flock over one lost sheep. Jesus, are you telling us that God the Father is like this shepherd? Can it be that our shepherd is not reasonable, measured or prudent when it comes to even one of us lost in sin? Is God that crazy in love with us? How wonderful it is that God is head-over-heals in love with us that he will go to any lengths and search without giving up until he brings us home to the safety of the flock. As a parent I would give up anything to bring back a lost child of mine.  Love makes us do crazy things. Lord, thank you for your mercy and forgiveness. Each time I stray from you I am welcomed back with great joy. Lord, help me today to resist the temptation to wander off from your loving care. My home is with you, safe in your loving arms.  Amen.
