Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14

Psalm 124

1 John 3:1-3

Matthew 5:1-12

“Salvation comes from our God…” Revelation 7:10

See what love the Father has bestowed on us… 1 John 3:1

Lord, to climb the ladder of success in this world one must be smarter than the next guy, get the required degrees and maybe do extra favors for the boss. To get ahead it helps to complete the big project on time and under budget even if you have to step on some toes along the way. The path to heaven isn’t like that. Salvation is a gift from God.  You invite us to die to our self-will and follow you. I can’t pull myself up to you, Lord, by my spiritual bootstraps. I admit and face my weakness and my total need for your mercy. Like so many who have been saved before me, dear Jesus, I put myself, just as I am, in your loving, gentle and merciful hands. I cry out that I can’t do this on my own, but I can rely on and trust in your grace. I am your sinful child, my Lord. I am confident that as I struggle to be holy you are with me always leading me to your kingdom. May all the Saints in heaven pray for us.  Amen.
