Psalm 144
Luke 13:31-35
Put on the armor of God that you may be able to resist on the day of evil. Eph. 6:11
My shield, in whom I trust…Ps. 144:9
Lord, your word today can be very intimidating for those who don’t “put on the armor of God.” It can be scary to stand up to and defend ourselves against the Evil One with all his lies, temptations and tactics. He knows just how to attack each one of us. He is so aware of our weak points and know how to convince us of his deceptions and allurements. We face a spiritual battle every day, so we need spiritual weapons to defend ourselves. St. Paul tells us that our faith is our shield against the flaming arrows of temptations shot at us. I can use the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Holy Spirit to defeat the attacks of the world, the flesh and the devil. Your truth found in the words of scripture can counter any deceit or discouragement we can encounter. Lord, I appeal to you to clothe me with the tools I need to be more holy, more courageous, and more focused on what is important in the spiritual life. The sacraments of your Church provide the grace I need to win the battle. Amen
