Psalm 119

Luke 8:19-21 or Luke 9:23-26

“My mother and my brothers are those who hear the word of God and act on it.”  Luke 8:21

Lord, we use DNA testing to establish our physical family lines. We can even go back in time and through these tests find out we are related to a famous or infamous person in the past. No biological testing is needed to define our relationship with you. Your word today tells us that to have a family relationship with you we listen carefully to the word of God and then live it. That’s it! I can be your brother or sister by letting your words inform and guide my life. Each day you want to fill me with your wisdom and truth, Lord. And each day you provide opportunities to let that truth transform me into your disciple, a member of your huge family. Each day I can strive to walk in your law without blame. I can’t change my DNA or my family blood lines but I can come closer to you. Lord, speak to me in whatever way you choose to and bless me with the grace to live as your brother or sister. Thank you, my Lord and brother, for hearing my prayer.  Amen.
