1 Corinthians 6:1-11
Psalm 149
Luke 6:12-19
The Lord loves his people, and he adorns the lowly with victory. Ps. 149:
He spent the night in prayer to God. Luke 6:12
Lord, St. Luke saw the need to include this point in his telling of how you chose the twelve Apostles. It’s important to note that you turned to your Father for wisdom and guidance before making this big decision. You didn’t rely solely on your human instinct, first impressions or snap judgements. You didn’t choose the smartest, the most powerful, the wealthiest, even the holiest people on which to start building your kingdom. You chose them not by man’s standard but by God’s standards. You chose them not for what they were or had been, but by what, with the power of your Holy Spirit, they could become. Lord, you take great delight in those who you have called to follow you. Lord, I’ve made a lot of bad choices-great and small. Many no doubt, due to failure to pray first. Seeking your guidance and wisdom before making important decisions about anything is the right way. I love you; I thank you and I praise you for all you have done for me. Remind me today, Lord, to ask you first for wisdom and guidance for anything I do. Amen.
