1 Corinthians 3:1-9
Psalm 33
Luke 4:38-44
“To the other towns also I must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God…” Luke 4:43
Lord, what a contrast in how you were received between your hometown of Nazareth and Capernaum! Your friends and neighbors refused your message, even tried to harm you but the strangers in Capernaum begged you to stay. There was so much more faith in Capernaum. It must have been a great comfort and pleasure to see this faith. Was it hard for you to leave? You put behind you all the joy of being loved and admired to go into other places to continue your mission. Thanks be to God you chose to do that. Had you stayed where life was comfortable and good we’d likely never have been saved by the cross. We’d still be lost in darkness and death would be the victor. Show me Lord not to be satisfied with staying in my comfort zone but to step out in faith. Today, Lord, show me what new experience of the abundant life you desire for me to have. I trust in your grace to be with me today as I move on in the new life. “For in him our hearts rejoice; in his holy name we trust.” (Ps. 33:21) Amen.
