1 Corinthians 2:10-16
Psalm 145
Luke 4:31-37
“What is there about his word?” Luke 4:36
Lord, you shook up the temple-goers pretty good on that Sabbath in Capernaum. This was the first mighty deed recorded by Luke in his gospel. The people were amazed at the authority of your word and its power over the evil demon. You spoke and the demon left. Little did the people know at the time that what you did for this one man you would do for all people of all time on the cross. There is no limit on your power to control nature, heal disease, drive away evil, forgive sin and conquer death. Lord in you I place my faith and I trust the power of your word is as complete today as it was in Capernaum. Your desire to set us free from burdens, remove obstacles, restore peace has not diminished either. Lord, remove from me the demons of doubt and fear. Cleanse me of evil thoughts, unclean desires and help me make real changes. Drive from me any selfishness, self-centeredness or pride. I only want to live the abundant life you came to give. I’ll require nothing else today, Lord. Amen.
