2 Thessalonians 2:1-3, 14-17
Psalm 96
Matthew 23:23-26
…he has called you through our gospel to possess the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 2:14
“You…have neglected the weightier things of the law, judgement and mercy and fidelity.” Matthew 23:23
Lord, you sure had a problem with hypocrites! You spoke harshly against those religious leaders who had their priorities out of whack. They focused intently on minute and scrupulous observance of small details of the law and ignored what really was important. You teach us that you couldn’t care less about these small things at the expense of living an abundant life in you. Lord, today’s a good day to look at my priorities. Does how I live each day please you? Do I have my priorities in right order? Do I keep the big picture of the good news in mind? Do I love you and my neighbor from my heart? Lord, you alone know me perfectly. What do I need to change to possess your glory? I pray for the grace to be open to your answer. In the meantime, grant me the grace to stand firm and hold fast to the truth of your good news. Strengthen my heart to make choices that please you. Teach me to humbly surrender to your vision for my life. I humbly place my life choices in your wise and perfect hands. Amen.
