…seek what is above… Colossians 3:2

“Thus, it will be for the one who stores up treasure for himself but is not rich in what matters to God.”  Luke 12:21

Lord, success in the eyes of the world is usually measured by the amount of money we have, the size of our house and the number of electronic gadgets we carry. Your word teaches us these things of earth are not how you measure success. You tell us to lift our hearts and minds to what matters to you. The measures of that are many. How good a steward have I been of the time, talent and treasure you have given to me? Have I worked to teach the children you put my care to be people of good character? Have I given of myself completely to my spouse in marriage? Do I seek to be rich in the virtues of faith, hope and charity? You dearly do not begrudge wealth in itself. But you ask us to be wise in our use of it and put our priority on what you care about. Lord, my prayer today is in whatever time I have left on this earth that I may seek what you want me to seek and to become rich in what matters to you.  Amen.
