Lord, your message is clear today. The key to eternal life is love: love of you and my neighbor. This love is your highest command. How can I love you with all I’ve got? The first thing that comes to mind is to have complete faith and trust in your love for me. Next to be open to your word and let it transform my heart. Once you become the first priority in my life, I can begin to love my neighbor. I sometimes struggle with that one. Sometimes I choose to avoid my neighbor’s suffering by crossing to the other side of the road and pass by. I may justify this by thinking the problem is too big or there’s nothing I can do, or I can’t be bothered because I have more urgent things to do. Maybe I don’t want to get my hands dirty. Whatever excuse I use it doesn’t come from you. This doesn’t come easy to me, so I need your help. Lord, flow the grace of compassion for my brothers and sisters into my heart. May I do as you say: “Go and do likewise.” Amen
