Micah 6:1-4, 6-8
Psalm 50
Matthew 12: 38-42
“Teacher, we wish to see a sign from you.” Matthew 12:38
Lord, the religious authorities wanted a sign from heaven that you were from God. They were spreading the rumor that your power was not from God but from the devil. How that must have hurt your feelings! Nothing could be further from the truth. You had given ample evidence of who you were with all the demons cast out, healings of the blind, the lame and even raising the dead. Forgiving sins was something only God could do. Yet you would eventually give them the sign they wanted. Your resurrection from the dead stands as the greatest sign for all time. What sign can I give of my faith in you? What do you want from me? The prophet Micah said it very well: “You have been told, O man, what is good and what the Lord requires of you: only to do the right and to love goodness and to walk humbly with your God (6:8) Lord, today help me to see all the signs of your power and love that are all around me. May I walk with you today, my Lord and my God. Amen.
