Luke 9:11-17
…”This is my body that is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” 1 Cor. 11:23
Lord today is Father’s day. This is a special day when we honor and thank our fathers for giving us life, and for sacrificing themselves in so many ways so we could grow and live. Thank you, Lord, for my father who taught me so much in word and example. He also taught me the value of family love. It’s out of love that you gave us yourself completely on the cross. You give us yourself in each and every Mass in the Eucharist. As many families will gather in unity at a meal today to honor dad, may all believers gather at the heavenly banquet of the Eucharist to honor you. It must greatly please you to see your disciples, as one family, receive you in Holy Communion. After the Mass may it always be a joy for me to be a living tabernacle in my family, workplace and in the world. My prayer today is that your Holy Eucharist can empower those who had weak or abusive Fathers to forgive from their hearts. Remain in me, dear Jesus, for you are my food and drink for eternal life. Amen
