October 28, 2019 Monday of the 30th Week in Ordinary Time-C ST. SIMON AND JUDE, APOSTLES
Ephesians 2:19-22
Psalm 19
Luke 6:12-16
…built upon the foundation of the Apostles… Eph. 2:20
…from them he chose twelve, whom he also named Apostles; Lk. 9:13
Lord, you chose these men to witness your miracles, hear your teaching and see how you cared for the poor, the outcast and the sinner. They were a rag-tag bunch that became the beginning of a revolution that continues today. After two centuries the foundation of the Apostles is still strong and your church has spread throughout the world. No other empire or nation has endured like your church. Thank you so much for choosing me to be among your household. I share in the honor and the mission of the twelve to continue the revolution in my time. My role may be small but it is still important. Whatever my role in life, I can live your truth and witness to your love. I can follow the example of the original Apostles and preach your word by the way I live. Lord, I trust that your grace will strengthen me to reconcile enemies, forgive those who gossip, heal the wounds of anger and encourage the young. May I visit the sick and lonely and be a friend to the one who has none. May I be open to the Spirit to lead me to be your instrument. Simon and Jude pray for us. Amen
