Psalm 126

Matthew 20:20-28

We hold this treasure in earthen vessels that the surpassing power maybe of God and not from us. “  2 Cor. 4:7

“My cup you will indeed drink…”  Mt. 20:23

Lord, you know me very well.  You see me more completely than I do.  You knew James and John too.   Their desire for greatness you turned into a desire to serve rather than be served.  You turned their attention from their own status and accomplishments to giving themselves for your Kingdom.  I know that’s what you ask of me too.  But you know Lord my heart is not always in it for I am an earthen vessel.  I selfishly pick and choose how and whom to serve.  I have mixed motives.  But I will keep at it.  With your grace and surpassing power I’ll tolerate my limitations and imperfections and strive each day to serve you a little better.  I will keep at it and look for you to bless the words I speak and the actions I do.  I hope every way I serve is important to you and you can make up for my shortcomings and help me to put more love into how I serve.  Thank you for calling me to become great in your service even if I’m not yet ready to drink your cup.  St. James pray for me.  Amen.
