Jeremiah 18:1-6

Psalm 146

Matthew 13:47-53

Whenever the object of clay which he was making turned out badly in his hand, he tried again.  Jer. 18:4

Lord, you are the potter, I am the clay.  Unlike a human potter you don’t make ugly or flawed pots.  You formed me from the beginning to be beautiful and good.  Unlike clay I can choose how to respond to you and your dream for me.  You continually form and shape me to become what you want for me.  There have been times I have “turned out badly” by choosing sin over virtue.  But it is only a temporary condition because you call me to repent of my sins and return to your grace.  Your grace is always more powerful than my sin.  You have given us the sacraments of healing and spiritual nourishment that restore us to be the pots you desire.  Your friend Peter is a good example of a man who made serious mistakes but you persevered and he became a great saint.  Thank you dear Lord for not giving up on me either.  I trust in your boundless mercy and constant love.  Your words today are very hopeful.  You aren’t done with me yet.  You will always work to mold me into the person you created me to be.  I surrender my loved ones to you.  Mold our hearts however you desire.  Amen
