1 Corinthians 15:35-37, 42-49

Psalm 56

Luke 8:4-15

Some seed fell in good soil…and bear fruit through perseverance.  Lk. 8:15

Lord, when I walk through a forest everywhere I look I see the abundance of life. From the largest oak to the smallest gnat the fruit of seeds is all around. The forest is not only beautiful to see but necessary for my life because the oxygen I breathe is the fruit of all the abundant greenery. Not just beautiful to see but life-giving.  Lord, the seed of your word is life-giving too. I can admire its wisdom and appreciate its truth but if it doesn’t bear fruit in my life it’s like a tree that is only nice to look at. If I don’t receive your word with humble joy and live it it’s like an apple tree that doesn’t make apples. Lord, help me not to fear or avoid changing my attitudes and beliefs. Make your word powerful each and every day. Transform my heart to be more generous, hopeful and encouraging. Thank you for planting the seed of your word in my heart. Please be patient with me as I breathe in the wisdom of your word. With your grace I can persevere in bearing the fruit you have created me to bear.   Amen.
