Matthew 7:6, 12-14

“Enter through the narrow gate…”  Mt. 7:13

Lord, thank you for your invitation to enter your kingdom.  It’s where we were created to be. Life in your kingdom is our purpose and goal. Everything else comes in second place. You tell us the door to life in you is narrow. To me that means that I must leave behind a lot of stuff that doesn’t help me to live as you wish. I must leave behind the baggage of sin. I must leave behind self-centeredness, excessive materialism, pride, evil thoughts and anger.  I must do to others what I’d want them to do for me. Lord, I know what does and doesn’t belong in your house because of your word. I admit that I can’t do this alone. I need your help and the help of a community of believers to follow you. Lord, lead me to value whatever leads to life in you and to reject what leads to destruction. Your house is a beautiful place, let me enter and enjoy your peace forever. Lord, help me to trust your Holy Spirit to led me through the narrow gate.  Amen.
