…do not be afraid…Mt. 10:31

Lord, three times in our Gospel for today you urge your followers to not give in to fear. You had just told them they will be hated, scorned and persecuted because of their belief in you. They will even be betrayed by their own families. Lord, your encouragement is intended for us too. We live in a time when our Catholic faith is laughed at, ridiculed and disputed by media and many people around us.  We are often afraid to stand up for gospel values such as respect for all life from conception to natural death.  We are challenged by those who want to redefine marriage. You also make clear how much our Father loves us. On this Father’s day bless all our natural fathers. But also let us embrace how our heavenly Father watches over us. He is so involved in my life he knows how many hairs are growing on my head. He knows when I wake up in the morning because he has been on watch over me throughout the night. He is always ready to give me the ‘daily bread” that will overflow in my life. Thank you God for all you do for me every minute of my life.  Jesus I trust in you.  Amen.
