Acts of the Apostles: 16:11-15

Psalm 149

John 15:26—16:4A

In Philippi…a woman named Lydia …listened and the Lord opened her heart to pay attention…Acts 16:14

Lord, your missionaries have arrived at a place (Philippi) that was ready to receive the good news about your Resurrection and the salvation you won for us on the cross. The Philippians eagerly embraced the truth Paul spoke to them. The Holy Spirit had prepared them well for this time of conversion from Roman idols to fervent followers of you. Paul even wrote a beautiful letter to the church he had established there. That letter is included in our canon of scriptures. After the hostile receptions Paul and his band had received in the cities of Asia Minor he must have been relieved and so grateful to you for the success in Philippi.  Lord, help me to take advantage of the fertile soil you prepare for your word in very unlikely places and in unexpected times.  Thank you Lord for inspiring Paul to write his letter to the Philippians, a people he so obviously loved and cared for. This also goes to show that I just need to humbly trust and leave the rest to you. Give me the grace to listen like Lydia to your truth and inspiring words.  Amen Alleluia.
