Acts of the Apostles: 8:5-8, 14-17

Psalm 66

1 Peter 3:15-18

John 14:15-21

With one accord, the crowds paid attention to what was said by Phillip… Acts 8:6

“Always be ready to give an explanation to anyone who asks for a reason for your hope but do it with gentleness and reverence…” 1 Peter 3:15-16

Lord, my body and mind are so stimulated by your holy word in today’s readings! Your word is so rich with how the Holy Spirit worked wonders in the early church. Phillip, one of the first deacons, found faith among the out cased Samaritans. You found faith among the Samaritans too when you met the woman at the well shortly before entering Jerusalem. In both cases the people’s response to hearing the good news of salvation was hope and joy. Lord, in this time of virus turmoil the world needs that hope and joy. That’s where I can make a difference. When I encounter people I pray they see my hope and my joy. If asked how I can be that way with all the sickness and death around today I can say I have you as my Savior and the Holy Spirit as my advocate (defense attorney). You have not left us orphans. Your Spirit is alive and well today just as it was 2,000 years ago. I don’t have to give a theological treatise just share my hope and my joy in being saved and walking daily with the Holy Spirit. May I always do it gently and reverently respecting everyone I meet.  Amen Alleluia
