Jeremiah 11:18-20

Psalm 7

John 7:40-53

So a division occurred in the crowd because of him.  John 7:43

Lord, the people of your time couldn’t agree on who you were even those who had seen your miracles and heard your teaching were divided.  I have to believe that the same division would exist today if you lived among us in our time. The guards reported that they had never heard anyone speak like you. Something about your words penetrated their hearts and changed them. Their superiors could not get over their notions about where you came from. So they couldn’t accept your message or even that you had come from God. Their ears where not open because you challenged their authority and brought a new message of tolerance, mercy and hope. Lord, sometimes there is division in my mind about you and the teachings of your church. You and your church challenge the politically correct modern ideas on many subjects. Your church teaches us that all human life is sacred and must be protected from conception to natural death. The modern way is to turn to abortion to remove an unwanted person from our lives. Our sense of justice is far different from what you taught. Please Lord bring our nation and our world back to what is true and holy and just. Open our minds and our hearts to your truth.  Amen.
