Isaiah 40:25-31

Psalm 103

Matthew 11:28-30

“Come to me all you who labor and are burdened…”  Matthew 11:28

Lord, your words to us today couldn’t be timelier.  The stress and pressure of the Christmas season can be overwhelming.  All the shopping and tree trimming and preparing cards, mailing packages add up to a frantic level of busy.  We don’t know if we will ever get it all done in time.  I can’t believe that your birthday celebration is enhanced by all we try to do this time of year.  You know exactly what we need: a little rest in you.  You ask us to come away from all that clouds our minds and stresses our hearts to be blest by you.  You only want a little of our attention.  You dealt with stress by going off alone to be with your Father in prayer.  I can do the same.  Lord, quiet my mind and heart for a little time each day to experience the Father’s love and presence.  Help me to lay down my burdens long enough to learn from your meek and humble heart.  Open my heart to your glorious presence and peace and I will find rest in you.  Amen.
