Hosea 51:2-10
Psalm 37
Matthew 10:16-23
“For it will not be you who speak but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you.” Matthew 10:20
Lord, your words prepared your followers for the danger and opposition that was sure to come to those who believe in you. And we have seen that believing and living the good news is not a bed of roses. The word, the flesh and the devil conspire to obstruct the spread of your kingdom. You assure your disciples they will be hated by everyone because of you. To complete the mission, you’ve given us the mission to proclaim the good news and that takes faith and courage. But thankfully you’ve promised to be with us every step of the way. We do not face the enemy alone. The Spirit of our Father will enlighten us with all we need to serve you in word and deed. Lord, teach me to be as shrewd as a serpent and simple as a dove. May how I live show forth your love, and may I today be an agent of peace amidst any hostility or apathy that I may meet. Amen.
