Jeremiah 17:5-10
Psalm 1
Luke 16:19-31
Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord. Jeremiah 17:7
Lord, this verse should be on our refrigerator doors or bathroom mirrors. It should be a banner that runs along the bottom of our TV news programs. It should be how every presidential debate begins. Oh, if we’d only believe it and plant its truth firmly on our hearts! If only we’d remember it when the car won’t start, or we are diagnosed with disease. Trusting in man can bite us. Trusting in ourselves is foolish. All these can let us down and can lead us away from you. This Lent, Lord, help me to place all my hope in you. Help me to trust you each day with my life and my family. I place all my troubles in your loving hands. I give you all my temptations and look to you for the strength to resist. With you at my side I have nothing to fear today. Fill my heart with confidence in your constant and unfailing care. Every four years we have a “leap” day. An extra day to grow in your grace. May I have a fruitful day today. Amen.
