Isaiah 29:17-24

Psalm 27

And out of gloom and darkness, the eyes of the blind shall see.  Is. 29:18

Wait for the Lord, take courage, be stouthearted, wait for the Lord!  Psalm 27:14

Lord, we all need encouragement especially when we’re in a state of darkness or anxiety. Self-pity, fear or worry can really bring us down. Understanding and sympathy are good but in the end a slap in the face may be best. “Get over yourself, move on, get a grip” can wake us up and push us to a better place. Your Psalm today has strong words that remind us to look beyond our present woes to when you will act in our lives. It tells me to trust that you are present to me all the time and are working to bring me up from the depths. To me it says to wait for the marvelous ways you give me life and heal the blindness of my indifference. It says in the meantime not to take myself so seriously and to move on in courage. Waiting on you takes faith, Lord. As I await your coming this Advent I pray for stronger faith. I surrender to you and trust in you, Jesus, as I wait for your next miracle.  Amen.
