“You also must be prepared…” Lk. 12:40

Lord, most of us are very careful about protecting our homes and bank accounts from break-ins or thieves. Cyber security is very big in our world.  It takes our constant attention to be ready for the danger of threats today. You use this as an example of how we need to be ready for our eventual encounter with you. It most surely will come at an unexpected time and an unexpected way. But what about our daily experiences with you? How will you touch our lives today? Will you remind us that our faith needs to be guarded as much, if not more than our credit cards? Constant vigilance is required to avoid yielding to temptations to sin in thought, word and deed. I know my weaknesses and what I need to do to not expose myself to the darkness of evil. Fortunately you have provided all the grace I need in the sacraments of your Church to protect myself. I have your word in scripture to encourage and guide me to not fall prey to the evil one. How will you surprise me today, Lord? How will you bring my attention to a new priority or a new person in need?  Help me be prepared always.  Amen.
