Matthew 10:16-23
“Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for there I will make you a great nation. Gen. 46:3
Lord, our Father called Israel (Jacob) with his sons and their families to leave the land of Canaan to migrate to Egypt. The plan to build a great nation was in motion. It involved many persons and even the servitude of the chosen people. But immigration was a critical element in the plan to prepare a people to receive you one day as their redeemer. Lord, there are few domestic situations that we have in our country right now that are more urgent to address than the immigration crisis at our southern border. It dominates our news and starts many an argument among ourselves. It is a complex problem that will require courage and wisdom to resolve. I try to remember that you are in charge and are truly present to people on both sides of this issue. While I may have strong feelings about what needs to be done I also must remember that justice and fairness must be a part of the solution. Lord, I lift this entire mess up to you to guide us to a just and humane outcome. May your grace help us all to do what’s right in union with the will of our Father. Amen.
