1 Corinthians 11:17-26, 33
Psalm 40
Luke 7:1-10
…say the word and let my servant be healed.” Lk.7:7
Lord, faith always seems to get your attention. As this story unfolds, the faith of the centurion grows and his final request of you is so profound we repeat it before we receive Holy Communion at every Mass. We don’t know his name or what became of him following this incident but his words are burned into our hearts. What an unlikely spiritual hero. He believed in the power of your word. Would that my faith would be as strong! Lord, I pray to you today for healing in so many ways. Your Church on earth is in need of great healing. So many of my friends and family members who have stopped believing in you have spirits in need of healing. I lift up the sick, the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed. I pray you will heal the souls of those who have fallen into grave sin. We have wars, injustice and the murder of innocent children so in need of your word. Bring our nation back to you from its slide into disunity and division. Care for those suffering from natural disasters. I believe in your power, dear Jesus. Only say the word and our world will be healed. Amen.
