1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
Psalm 96
Luke 4:16-30
…he called his disciples to himself… Luke 6:13
Lord, what an amazing moment. After a night of prayer in which you sought your Father’s guidance you called twelve men to yourself. What did you see in these twelve whom you called by name? Where you aware of their shortcomings, lack of experience, poor education and unreliability. In almost every way they hardly seemed qualified for the critical mission you would trust to them. But first of all you loved them and wanted them near you, to walk with you and to share the adventure of your mission. No doubt you knew they would have a shaky start but in the end with the power of the Holy Spirit, and your example and teaching they would do great. Lord, you have called me by name knowing my shortcomings and weaknesses. You also see my potential. So you invite me to come close to you and to be a part of your plan for the kingdom. Like the twelve, I say “yes” not knowing where that yes will take me. But as long as I am near you, everything will turn out OK. Amen.
