October 2, 2017 Monday of the 26th Week in Ordinary Time-A GUARDIAN ANGELS

Zechariah 8:1-8

Psalm 102

Matthew 18:1-5, 10

…their angels in heaven always look upon the face of my heavenly Father.”  Mt. 18,10

Lord, it is good for us to be reminded of our guardian angels because they are so easily forgotten.  They do their work for you beyond our sight.  They follow your will and carry out their duties day and night whether we are aware of them or not.  The Pope called them “our spiritual bodyguards.”  They are truly another sign of your love for us.  How many times a day does my angel pray for me?  How many accidents and perils has my angel preserved me from?  How many inspirations, thoughts and intuitions come to my mind from my trusty angel?  How often do I take credit and pat myself on the back for something that really came from my quiet and devoted friend?  Father, thank you for the gift of my guardian angel.  Help me to be more aware of the constant presence and companionship of my angel.  Give me a child-like confidence in the loyalty my angel has for me.  “Angel of God, my guardian dear, to whom His love commits me here, ever this day be at my side to light and to guard, to rule and guide.”   Amen
