November 1, 2017 THE SOLEMNITY OF ALL SAINTS

Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14

Psalm 24

1 John 3:1-3

Matthew 5:1-12

“Rejoice and be glad for your reward will be great in heaven.”  Mt. 5:12

Lord,  an insurance company advertises that with them we “are in good hands”.  Everyone who believes in you wants to be with you.  Joining you in your heavenly kingdom is the destination we all seek.  There are many obstacles along the road to you.  We struggle and fall along the way but you are always there to help us up and to strengthen us in our weakness.  It is good to be reminded today of the “great multitude, which no one could count” of saints that share in your victory over death.  This day gives me hope.   I have known people who have gone before me who I believe are now clothed in white robes and who stand in your presence and see your face.  I am blessed by their prayers.  Lord Jesus, continue to shape me, form me and lead me to my reward.  For my part, I surrender to you and your will.  I believe that I am in good hands and trust in your desire to see me cross the finish line.  Amen.
