Acts of the Apostles 6:8-15

Psalm 119

John 6:22-29

“Do not work for food that perishes but for the food that endures for eternal life.”  John 6:27

Lord, we spend so much of our time and energy on things that will one day wear out, rust or become lost.  We require material goods in this world to live and grow.  You ask us to examine our priorities.  You want us to put greater focus on what will endure.  Each day as I pray the Our Father I ask him for my daily bread.  My daily bread can be better relationships with members of my family, parish, workplace or neighborhood.  My daily bread can be forgiving someone or building them up instead of tearing them down.  My daily bread can be time with and appreciation of the truth in your word.  My daily bread can be the great gift of your body and blood.  Lord, I believe you only want the best for me so, in trust, I am open to whatever you desire for me.  In the same prayer I’ll say “thy will be done.”  So, dear Jesus, I let go of my agenda and embrace yours.  I thank you for whatever bread you wish for me today.  Amen.
