When he arrived and saw the grace of God… Acts 11:23

Lord, your missionary Barnabus was sent to check out what was going on in Antioch.  There he “saw the grace of God.”  What did he see?  What does your grace look like?  Whatever he saw changed him.  He didn’t return to Jerusalem but sought out Paul and for a year ministered to the new Christians in Antioch.  Lord, the Holy Spirit was so active in these young, developing churches.  People were beginning to believe in a new way of relating to God.  Their relationship with God was now through you.   They were inspired to love God and neighbor as you had commanded.  They looked to you and to each other for solidarity instead of envy or jealousy.  They changed their priorities from giving to self to self giving.  They looked to live like they have been saved.  Lord, may your grace be visible in us today.  May we your disciples be different.  May we be renewed by your Spirit to live lives of holiness and commitment.  Help me to see your grace at work in every time and place.  Show me how to see people and situations as you see them.  Faithful St. Barnabus pray for us.  Amen.
