Matthew 8:5-17
“Is anything too marvelous for the Lord to do?” Genesis 18:14
“Lord…only say the word…” Matthew 8:8
Lord, my faith tells me the answer to the question in Genesis is “absolutely not!” We live our lives with so many limitations. Limited resources, time and energy are among them. In your word today you teach us you have no limits. You created an unbelievably vast universe with hundreds of billions of galaxies, each with hundreds of billions of stars and planets. You fine-tuned our bodies to function in so many marvelous conditions. You keep everyone of us in existence. Abraham became the father of many nations by the child he and Sarah conceived in their old, old age. You healed the centurion’s servant over a great distance with only a word. The common denominator in these two cases, and many others, is faith in you. Faith in your power to do the impossible. Faith in your wisdom to make all this work together. Faith in your love to ensure we have access to the kingdom. Faith in your will to heal and bless. Faith, despite questions and uncertainty. Lord, to be honest, I don’t doubt that you can do the impossible. I sometimes doubt that you will. Please fill me with the confidence that you will, if I let you, heal even my doubts. Amen.
