1 John 2:29-3:6

Psalm 98

John 1:29-34

Beloved, we are God’s children now.  1 John 3:2

Lord, in our human family when we are old enough we leave home and begin to build our lives in the world.  We go on to college or begin a career of work.  We may get married and start a family.  Even if we live independently of our parents we are still their children, their sons and daughters.  Lord, in our spiritual family we are always your sons and daughters.  But unlike when we leave home for the world we remain dependent on you forever.  We need your guidance, your help, your wisdom and most especially, your grace.  As we walk the road of life with you we are called in different ways.  But we remain in that same child-like reliance on you for everything.  Lord, I turn to you today in the hope of your continued favor, protection and love.  Teach me to be a child again.  I trust in you, Jesus, to nourish me with your body and blood for the journey of life.  Amen.
