January 23, 2017 Monday of the 3rd Week in Ordinary Time-A Day of Prayer for the Legal Protection of Children
Hebrews 9:15, 24-28
Psalm 98
Mark 3:22-30
The Lord has made his victory known. Psalm 98:2
“By the prince of demons he drives out demons.” Mark 3:22
Lord, the learned scribes didn’t get it. Their minds and hearts were closed to who you were and where your power came from. You responded with logic in your parable about the Kingdom that is divided cannot stand. You came among us to defeat Satan. You became one of us to give life and achieve victory over death. Lord, it makes sense that if my heart is divided between good and evil I have not yet fully embraced the life you offer. I guess that’ what the journey of life is all about. With your grace each day I can become more united with you. Each day I can let your light and your power defeat the darkness in my heart. May I not have hardness of heart like the scribes in today’s reading. Help me dear Jesus, to choose only what brings me closer to you. May all my thoughts, words and actions this day reflect the victory you have won for me. Remove from me anything that is not of you. On this day we pray for the legal protection and dignity of all unborn children in our country. Amen.
