Psalm 119
Mark 6:30-34
“Ask something of me and I will give it to you.” 1 Kings 3:5
Lord, you must have been pretty confident in your servant Solomon to give him a blank check like this. You knew him very well and could trust he would ask for what would help him govern your people. Every day, Lord, I ask for your blessings. Sometimes I ask you for health for my spouse, success for my children, good weather for my activities or even money to pay the bills. I realize that some of what I ask for isn’t right for me right now. Or maybe you have something in mind that would be much better. I may even benefit from a time of waiting for your response. Help me to ask for whatever is in union with your will for me. You have the big picture and can see perfectly what will bring me closer to you. Lord, help me to look beyond selfishness or shallow worldly delights to what is truly important and what makes me a more faithful child of God. I believe you desire only the best for me so I leave my prayer in your generous and loving hands. Amen.
