Deuteronomy 10:12-22

Psalm 147

Matthew 17:22-27

“He is your glory, He your God who has done for you those great and terrible things…” Deuteronomy 10:21

Father, I praise and thank you for being who you are.  My mind cannot grasp your real nature and my words cannot begin to describe you.  You have created a marvelous universe and have placed this tiny world in it.  You entered into our human history with great and awesome deeds.  You have brought us salvation through the cross of your Son.  Not a moment goes by that each of us is not on your mind and in your heart.  Lord, God of heaven and earth, I bow before you in awe and reverence.  So involved are you in the affairs of all of us that we must depend upon you for everything:  every breath, every heartbeat, and every mysterious function of our bodies.  You made us for yourself so that we can be your children and the love of your heart forever.   Moses exhorts us to “hold fast to you” so that we may always be close.  Make me more aware of your presence, your wonderful actions and your powerful work in the world and in my life.  Keep me, Father, close and under your watchful eye.  Amen.
