“Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.” John 20:29
Lord, your friend Thomas had conditions that he wanted met before he would believe you were alive. The testimony of the other disciples wasn’t enough for him. The miracles and prophecies weren’t’ enough for him to believe. He wasn’t ready to accept resurrection from the dead. But you met him in his unbelief. You met his conditions and offered your wounds for him to touch. You said to them all three times, “peace be with you.” Thomas quickly came to believe and went on to give his heart and his life for you. Lord, today we celebrate the river of mercy that flows from your wounded, most Sacred Heart. You understand our times of unbelief but never stop leading us to belief. Dear Jesus, I am so grateful that you have been patient with me as I grow in faith. Please continue to shower me with your mercy and your peace especially when life is hard and my trust is challenged like Thomas’ was. Keep me from setting conditions for my faith in you. May I be open to your will for me whatever form that takes. Be my peace today. Amen.
