Ezekiel 37:21-28
Psalm Jeremiah 31:10-13
John 11:45-56
My dwelling shall be with them: I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Ezekiel 37:27
“…it is better for you that one man should die instead of the people…” John 11:50
Lord, how prophetic are the words of the high priest. It truly is better for all of us that you gave up your life so we might be reunited with our God. The cross was not the solution the high priest believed it to be. The cross defeated the evil that was so embedded in the hearts of your enemies. Your cross sealed the eternal covenant promised by our Father that we are his chosen and beloved people. Lord, I give you the evil that lives in my heart. I place all my sins, my guilt and my shame at the foot of your cross and gaze on you in love. With humble gratitude I hear you pray: “Father, forgive them”. Lord, this is an overwhelming truth. I truly am not worthy of such a sacrifice, such an undeserved gift, such unconditional love. My Lord and my God. Amen.
