April 20, 2019 HOLY SATURDAY, VIGIL OF EASTER-C

Genesis 1:1—2:2

Psalm 16

Romans 6:3-11

Luke 24:1-12

Think of yourselves as being dead to sin and living for God in Christ Jesus.  Rom. 6:11

Lord, we’ve walked with you the past forty days.  Together we have experienced a lot.  We have kind of lived salvation history.  On this last day before everything is new, we pause and look back.  The universe holds its breath at what will happen now that the cross is empty and the stone placed over the tomb.  All creation is waiting for promises to be fulfilled and for the sun to rise.  Lord, I thank you for all the blessings and special favors you have given me this Lent.  I am especially grateful for the grace of repentance and the way you have encouraged me to persevere in my journey with you.  Today is kind of a “no man’s land” as we look forward to hearing those awesome words from the angel: “Why do you seek the living one among the dead?  He is not here, but he has been raised.”  Lord, I can’t wait for that first Alleluia, the Glory to God in the highest and the brightness of a new day.  I leave behind my sin and joyfully live in you and will rise with you.   Happy Easter, Jesus.  Amen.
