Psalm 40

Luke 12:35-38

…through the obedience of the one the many will be made righteous.  Rom 5:19

“Blessed are those servants whom the mater finds, vigilant on his arrival.” Lk. 12:37

Lord, your message to me today is to stay awake and ready for your return. That means to maintain a daily foundation of prayer, holiness and obedience. It means being fed by your holy word in scripture each and every day. It means setting my priorities so that my heart is generous, my mind pure, my words encouraging and my spirit open to your grace.  While I may not be on this earth when you choose to return, I am here now. You are blessing me today with the grace to live my faith. You are presenting me with opportunities to witness to my brothers and sisters how much you love them. You teach me to be a servant and not a master. It is much easier to “sleep walk” when everything is going well and put off decisions that you call me to make now. Lord, keep me vigilant for whatever direction your plan for me will take me today. Prepare me for the day when you call me home. Show me how I sometimes fall short of your expectations. Fill me with the grace I need to obey you today. St. John de Brebeuf and Isaac Jogues pray for me.  Amen.
